The Systems and Control
Laboratory of DIS (Dept. of Computer and Systems Science) directed by
Prof. Salvatore
Monaco, was established in 1995.
It's committement is the
development and the experimental verification of new control strategies.
Besides, several undergraduate students carry out their final project in the
Lab.
The Systems and Control
Laboratory is a focal point for studies of control and systems theory,
control system design, with particular emphasis on aerospace and robotic
systems.
As a component of the DIS and
Faculty of Engineering, the
laboratory has close association with the graduate and undergraduate
students of the University. At any given time, several projects normally are
in progress, with specific topics chosen by participating students in
cooperation with the staff.
Principal computing
resources include several personal computers for standard research activity,
special-purpose computers and devices for real time control systems implementation, visual data
acquisition equipment and a mobile robotic system (Robuter) is
available for experimentation. The main research topics
are: attitude and configuration control and mobile robotics.
These research
activities are mainly funded by ASI (Italian Space Agency),
MIUR (Ministry
of Education) and CNR (National Council of Research).
